Every car owner runs into problems now and then. Some issues are minor and easy to fix, while others require a trip to the mechanic. At Spark Auto Garage, we believe in helping our customers understand their vehicles better. Below are 5 of the most common car problems we see — and what you can do about them. You can also check out how you can take care of your own car.

🔋1. Dead Battery
Symptoms: The Car won’t start, dim headlights, clicking sound when turning the key. Fix:
Jump-start the car using jumper cables and another vehicle.
If your battery is more than 3 years old, consider replacing it.
Make sure battery terminals are clean and tightly connected.
🔧 2. Check Engine Light Is On
Symptoms: Yellow or flashing check engine light on dashboard.
Fix:
A steady light usually indicates a minor issue (like a loose gas cap).
A flashing light can mean a serious engine misfire — don’t ignore it.
Use an OBD-II scanner to identify the code, or bring it to us for a free diagnosis.
💨 3. Overheating Engine
Symptoms: Temperature gauge rising, steam from the hood, sweet-smelling coolant.
Fix:
Pull over and turn off the engine immediately.
Check coolant levels when the engine cools down.
Do not drive if the overheating persists — call a tow or visit us.
🚙 4. Squeaky or Grinding Brakes
Symptoms: High-pitched squeal or grinding noise when braking.
Fix:
Squealing often means worn brake pads — time for a replacement.
Grinding means the pads are worn through, possibly damaging your rotors.
🔄 5. Car Pulling to One Side
Symptoms: Vehicle drifts left or right without steering input
Fix:
Check tire pressure — uneven inflation is a common cause.
You may need a wheel alignment or tire rotation.
Worn suspension or brake problems can also cause pulling.
